Our Top Tips For Mental Wellbeing

It’s important to maintain our own mental wellbeing with the stressful and busy lives that a lot of us lead. Taking time to step back and focus on our mental health means that we can be more mentally resilient to any of the challenges that we find ourselves facing in our day to day lives. Check out some of our top tips below.

Connect With Someone You Trust

If you find that you are struggling, try reaching out to someone you trust and would be able to talk openly to about how you are feeling. Talking about your mental wellbeing with someone can help validate the feelings you are experiencing and allow those around you to offer support and guidance.

Get a good night’s sleep

Do not underestimate the power of a good night’s rest! Feeling well-rested can help reset our mood. We recommend building your own bedtime routine to help you prepare for sleep. After completing your routine for a few evenings, your body clock will start to recognise the process.

Other tips for a good night sleep would include:
  • Reduce caffeinated drinks in the hours leading up to bed.
  • Limit screen time in the evenings.
  • Reduce noise and light distractions e.g use an eye mask or earplugs.
Challenge negative thoughts

Often one negative thought will lead to another, creating a cycle of continuous negativity. By recognising these negative thoughts we can try to challenge them and replace it with a positive, more realistic outcome, helping us to break the chain of negativity and allow us to think more reflectively about our behaviour.

Give Yourself A Wellbeing Assessment

Knowing the current state of your mental wellbeing allows you to understand what steps you need to take in order to improve your mental wellbeing whether it be reaching out to someone or planning time for yourself. We recommend practicing mindful breathing for 5 minutes every morning. This is a good opportunity to start recognising and challenging any negative thoughts that you have helping to start the day on a positive note.

Take time for yourself

Taking time out of your day for yourself can not only help you to relax by doing something you enjoy but you could also learn a new skill or hobby that you’ve been wanting to try.

Some of our favourite activities would include:

  • Reading
  • Yoga/Meditation
  • Journaling
  • Pamper Evening
